Night of My Life

This layout is a very simple one. Not normally my style but looks nice.

I used a wallet size photo on a 12 x 12 page.

Materials Used:

Navy Cardstock
White Cardstock
Steel Blue Cardstock
Chipboard Alphas

The flowers were hand made by drawing a spiral and cutting it out. Crumple it carefully in your hand and then wind it tight then release. Wind again loosely and glue to your page. Size depends on the size of your spiral drawn.

My Beach Babe

This photo is of my daughter Jasmine in January 2012, down at Hillary's Boat Harbour. We took Gran and the boys down there for an early morning paddle and to look at the sights around the harbour.

Jazzie wasn't too keen on the texture of the sand so we lay a towel down for her to sit on, then she was happy with that.

I had always struggled with beach and holiday theme layouts, perhaps I just haven't done enough of them. But I liked the way this one has turned out. I also needed to use up these old papers.

Materials Used:

Orange Cardstock
7gypsies printed paper Amalfi
7gypsies printed paper Riviera
DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies printed blue
White crotche thread
Plastic stick on A alpha
Blue medium stick on chipboard alphas
(substitute use Thickers)
Shimmer yellow cardstock
Word Ribbon - beach theme
Blue paper flower - Prima
Yellow Ribbon
Orange Ric Rac Ribbon

MA - Your story begins...

This is my 2nd Son Mitchell as a new born. He wouldn't even be a day old in this photo. My inspiration for this layout came from a Colour Challenge at Scrapbook Savvy. The challenge was to use neutral colours with a splash of blue and green. I distressed the photo edges with sandpaper board and HS distressing tool to rough up the edges a bit. I also distressed the green background paper by scrunching it up, unfolding it then using sandpaper to highlight the creases. I used tearing on the brown paper at the bottom, then used a CM tool to cut lined paper into an oval shape to add some journalling. I used string wrapped into a circle and adhered a chipboard bird and ribbon. MA are Mitchell's initials.
Materials Used:

Unconventional Style using CM products.
Baby Boy patterned papers
Baby Boy Soft sticker alphas
Baby Boy clear stickers
Journalling block lined

Other materials:

String
Chipboard bird by 2 Crazy
Black felt tip pen for journalling.

You Are Loved - Son

Sketch Challenge from Sassy Scrappers.

This is my 2nd Son Mitch at about 7.5months old. He had steely blue eyes and ultra fine bleach blonde hair.

He was such a good baby. Slept when I put him down and made no fuss. Perfect as a baby. Look at him now and he is 7.5yrs old.

He loved his baths especially with his brother Hayden they would laugh and play for hours if I let them in there.

We got this gorgeous picture of him from a free sitting and $15 photo from GFP studios - a promotion they had at the time. He loved posing for the camera without so much as a grizzle.

Materials Used:

Something different this time - Creative Memories
Baby Boy Papers
Baby Boy Stickers
Baby Boy Soft Papers
Baby Boy Soft sticker tags
Journalling blocks

Non CM Materials Used:

Colour Box Fluid Chalk - Dark Brown
Rope
String
SON - plastic discs

A little unconventional with the blend of two scrapping products and styles but I like the the end result. Its a little different to my general style but its nice to try new things.

Lil Sis - Simply Adorable

This is a layout of my Lil Sis Tanya when we were about 16 and 18 years old. We thought we'd surprise Mum and Dad for their Wedding Anniversary and get some lovely GLAMOUR photos of ourselves for them. Loads of muck around from photography company at the time but we did get some lovely photos.

My sister is very photogenic and her smile is very natural, although posing for a camera is not her idea of a lot of fun but when she does smile she lights up.

I created this layout from a Word Challenge over at Chookscraps. The word was GLAMOUR so I decided to finally scrap this lovely casual picture of my sister.

Materials Used:

DCWV The Blossoms & Butterflies Stack of printed paper.
Loads of Prima flowers doubled up to give some depth and dimension.
Blue gingham ribbon
Brown loop ribbon
Brown lace edging
White thread for stitching
Kaisercraft - Tigerlily Butterfly
White Acetate printed embellishment

The flowers pick up the blue tones in the photo and the brown gives a lovely contrast.

Beautiful Spirit - Layout Challenge

Thought I'd try a challenge to keep the scrapping 'mojo' happy. This Challenge is from Chookscraps March Non-Sketch forum.

The Criteria:
Paint
No Cardstock (printed paper only)
Off Centre design
Equal number of embellishments.

I have 10 embellishments. The flowers on the top right are part of the printed paper I used, I just cut partially around it and slid the photo behind it.

The photo is of my bestfriend's daughter. I loved scrapping pictures of her, and still do as she is very pretty. But at the time I had 2 boys and she was the only girl around. I love her as if she was mine and I love it that she is such a girly girl. I'd give her gifts for birthdays and christmas that I could only wish to give a daughter. Now that I have a daughter of my own my next challenge is to get a nice picture of Nessie and my Jazzie together in a pretty photo.

Materials Used:

DCWV - The Blossoms & Butterlies Stack (glitter and foiled)
Fancy pants big board chipboard Butterfly
Grace Taylor - Grand Adhesions 3D stickers x4
Merci Canvas tags x3
Kaisercolour Antique White acrylic paint
Kaisercraft Pearl flourish

I love working with pinks and blues together, it creates a beautiful contrast together.

Bo Bunny 'On the Go' Wall Art Kaisercraft Kite

Well, as promised here is my Off the Page Class project for Smudge and Sparkle due in May, but is on display to view. From all the products used for this, I still had enough to make 5 cards as displayed in the post below.

To view the product list scroll down 2 posts as I've listed all materials. I really enjoyed this project, but it did take some time to complete. Approx 4 hours was the time it took but it was a lot of fun.

So if you are in WA Australia and really like to come to my class, please keep an eye on the Smudge and Sparkle website as to when it will booked for in May and contact Wendy to book your seat. I'll teach you a few techniques I used and some helpful tips when making your own embellishments for this Off the Page project. If you don't finish in class you are welcome to finish at home or contact me through my blog here for help or email me.

Bo Bunny 'On the Go' Cards

From the left over scraps of the previous project I was able to create 5 boy birthday cards. All the products used is the same for the Off the Page project except the metal punch alphas that were given to me in a RAK package many moons ago. They seem to go well on these cards.

Creating cards are fairly quick to make depending on how elaborate you make them. Kids ones are generally pretty simple without much 'Hoo Haa' to them. A picture of something raised against a background of printed / patterned papers and cardstock will look great. Want some wow factor
try using some doodle bug glitter cardstock, the texture and and shine can really make it pop.

Stamping and colouring with watercolour pencils or chalk is another option if you don't have much in the way of printed paper with pictures. You can always stamp your cardstock for background patterns and add a bit of kindy glitz to jazz it up. A lot of scrapping and or stamping magazines may come with printed paper, sentiments, stamps or pictures in it to get you started.

I love chipboard pictures and words and can really add a feature to your card or display a sentiment. Next time when you're online check out one of your favourite online stores or down at your local scrapbooking shop as they are bound to have a whole heap of them.

Till next time.

Geisha Card

I love putting together Oriental Cards and Off the Page creations. Here I embossed some wording in gold and made the beads and blossoms by hand. I added a touch of gold versa colour ink to the rim of the blossoms with a few drops of Dimensional Magic to give some gloss. I used Modge Podge to glaze and adhere the paper beads and attached them with threading to a gold ring. The Geisha photos were downloaded from the internet and printed onto photo paper.

Red cardstock
Red thin paper
Basic Grey pad (6x6) Scarlet
Versa Mark water mark stamp
Versa Colour Gold ink
Versa Colour White ink
White thin paper
Flourish stamp
Gold embossing powder
Stampin Up Cranberry ink
White thread

Warning: Very fiddly paper blossoms and beading.
